A 17-year-old girl has given birth to his father, a 58-year-old mason, Bledi, at Kwabenya in Accra.

Reports indicate that the girl was asked by her mother to live with her father, who constantly had sexual intercourse with her, leading to a pregnancy.

Investigations revealed that the victim went to the Ga East Hospital to deliver and had challenges with the payment of her medical bills.

The intervention of the Social Welfare Department at the hospital led to the waiver of her bills.

Further enquiries by a social worker as to who impregnated her forced the victim to disclose that her father was responsible.

The social worker then reported the case to the Kwabenya Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit, and a Police medical report was issued for the victim to be examined at the hospital. Based on the report, the accused was arrested.

Bledi was arraigned before the court and has been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.
