Former English striker Gary Lineker was excited with the performance the young Ghanaian forward Fatawu Issahaku put up in the 31 minutes he spent on the pitch in Leicester City’s wonderful 3-2 win at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Fatawu Issahaku replaced Danish defender Victor Kristiansen in the 59th minute with Leicester City losing 2-0 to Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo’s first half goals. Fatawu in the 61st minute assisted 19-year-old Argentine forward Facundo Buonanotte to pull a goal back for the visitors. Issahaku rattled the woodwork before Vardy won and converted a spot kick with 15 minutes to end the game (2-2).

Another Ghanaian, Jordan Ayew, with 8 minutes into the additional time snatched the winner (3-2) for Leicester leading to wild celebrations from the away fans.

After Issahaku’s show, Lineker said on BBC Match of the Day, “As a Leicester fan and my kids all follow Leicester as well, every time we see the team sheet we go: “Oh, not again, why is he not playing. This kid is special”.

Former Newcastle United and Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given also waxed lyrical about the young Ghanaian.

“He is a special talent. They were two nil down when he came off the bench, played 31 minutes and had more touches in the opposition box. If Steve doesn’t start him, I don’t think he will be overly happy but he is a brilliant talent.”

The Foxes hosts Nottingham Forest on Friday night with many fans calling for Fatawu Issahaku to start.
