The Embassy of Liberia in Accra has stepped in following the tragic death of 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengbeh, in the Lashibi–Sakumono area on February 27, 2026.

According to the Embassy, it was notified of the incident the day after it occurred and immediately contacted the Sakumono District Police and relevant authorities to ensure accurate information was obtained and proper procedures followed.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Some suspects have been apprehended, while efforts continue to identify and detain others believed to be involved in the incident.

Initial reports suggest that Mr. Tengbeh, who lived in the Spintex area, visited another Liberian at a residential property in Lashibi, where a disagreement escalated into a fatal confrontation.

Police responded promptly, transporting him to the Sakumono Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Embassy has engaged with individuals connected to the case, the Liberian community in Ghana, and local authorities. Efforts are underway to formally notify Mr. Tengbeh’s next of kin and provide consular assistance.

In a statement, the Embassy urged members of the Liberian community to remain calm and allow the investigation to unfold, emphasizing that the case is being handled in accordance with Ghanaian law.

Condolences were extended to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

The Liberian government reiterated its trust in Ghana’s judicial system and highlighted the enduring positive relations between the two nations.
