It was Kwame Poku once again as he scored the winner for Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup.

True Democracy was not a mere side on the field of play as they played beyond expectations.

The gap between the two sides ahead of the game was so big that many thought it was going to be a walk in the park for the Porcupine Warriors.

However, the Access Bank Division One League side was fully prepared mentally and physically for Fabulous.

Former Tano Bofoakwa winger Dauda Saaka paid the faith head coach Prosper Ogum has had in him by scoring in the 12th minute to give Asante Kotoko a good Start.

True Democracy shocked everyone by restoring parity via Isaac Botchway’s 62nd minute goal. The equaliser rocked the Porcupine Warriors as they started panicking because they had no excuse to send the game to penalties.

A penalty shootout was looming large as the clock was ticking for both sides.

Kwame Poku, who has been the best player in Ghana since returning to Asante Kotoko in the second transfer window of the season in the 95th minute, landed a knockout blow to end True Democracy’s run.

It was a huge 2-1 win for the Porcupine Warriors and a sad loss to the minnows.

Asante Kotoko has joined Attram De Visser, Berekum Chelsea and Golden Kick as the teams that have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2025-25 MTN FA Cup.
