Ghana’s MTN FA Cup will never go a day without a shock. The competition has simply become a home for shocking results in football.

Bibiani Gold Stars’ elimination on Friday afternoon by Attram De Visser was never going to be the only unbelievable result of the round 16.

On Sunday, the spirit of shocking in the FA Cup visited Accra and Tarkwa as Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC were beaten on penalties by Golden Kick and Pac Academy, respectively.

Hearts of Oak’s midfielder Theophilus Collins received his marching orders in the 65th minute after he was shown a second yellow card. Phobia started struggling and could not open up the Access Bank Division One League side to snatch the winner. Golden Kick won 4-3 on penalties to shock the Phobians after the game ended goalless draw in 90 minutes.

Medeama at the TNA Park in Takwa got the shock of their lives as Pac Academy matched their intensity and drew 1-1. Medeama’s 5th-minute opener was cancelled three minutes later by the minnows. The Mauve and Yellow could not find the winner as the game travelled to penalties. Pac Academy scored all their four penalties while Medeama scored only two of their four.

Samuel Boadu’s Berekum Chelsea smashed Northern City 4-1 at the Berekum Golden City Park.

All Premier League affairs ended in a 1-0 victory for Young Apostles against Karela United at Wenchi Town Park.

Abedi Pele’s Nania FC was eliminated on penalties by True Democracy. The game ended 1-1 in the 90 minutes. Nania lost 5-4 on penalties.

Bechem United booked a ticked in the next round after winning 4-3 on penalties at Techiman Liberty after a goalless draw.
