The pitch of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium has not been in good shape since the so-called renovation was made.
The venue was closed down soon after Angola’s 1-0 win against Black Stars in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. The pitch on that day was so horrible that Angolan head coach Pedro Goncalves complained bitterly about it.
Ghana played the last two home games of the qualifiers in Accra at the Accra Sports Stadium. Baba Yara became very free, and renovation was done.
The pitch never looked like something that had gone under maintenance as it is in a very poor state.
The 2024 SHS Milo Games in the Ashanti Region was played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Fans were very sad with the state of the pitch.

“We are confident it will be in perfect shape for the Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak on Sunday, Patience Mensah disclosed.
A quality pitch makes football very attractive so the NSA must work extremely hard to make the Baba Yara ɛitch friendly for football.
Asante Kotoko will welcome Accra Hearts of Oak to Oseikrom on Sunday, 15th December, at 3 pm.
