Haruna Iddrisu is a staunch football fan who is also an investor in the game. The Education Minister is the owner and Bank roller of Premier League club Karela United and Division One side Steadfast FC.

The politician cum businessman knows all that it takes to run a successful football club and has lamented on the poor state of the game in Ghana.

“Our football is not in the best of shape. Look at the incidents in Nsoatreman,” Haruna Iddrisu said.

The disappointment of Pooley’s death might take a decade before people will get over it. Haruna Iddrisu expressed his concern about how football is poorly run in Ghana.

“Officiating is at its poorest, and our Premier League is not watched,” Haruna Iddrisu added.

The minister highlighted two of the major problems of the league raising concerns about officiating. Referees across the country have come under severe criticism in the ongoing season, with teams feeling that they are always cheated by referees’ biased decisions.

Also, Iddrisu lamented on attendance. Ghanaians are no longer interested in visiting football venues across the nation due to the poor quality of football. Stadiums on matchdays are always empty, and Pooley’s death has been predicted to worsen things.
