The tragic death of singer Patoranking’s sister Chioma, and her husband, George O Buchi, has deeply affected netizens.
In the wake of the couple’s death, more details about the circumstances surrounding their demise have surfaced on social media.
Initially, it was reported that a gas explosion was the cause of the tragedy.
However, new information has contradicted this claim.
In an Instagram post by Seun Oloketuyi, it was revealed that Chioma’s close friend, Uchechi, provided further insight into the incident.
Uchechi explained that the couple died on August 25, 2024, at their new duplex in Ebonyi State.
According to her, Chioma and George were with their three-year-old son upstairs when George detected a burning smell. He went to investigate, followed by Chioma, leaving their son asleep.
As the couple approached the source of the smell, an explosion occurred.
George suffered severe facial burns and fell into a coma, while Chioma sustained burns but was initially able to make phone calls to friends and her father before neighbours rushed them to the hospital.
Chioma, who was still conscious enough to take calls, passed away on August 30 at around 7:38 pm.
However, contrary to earlier reports, Seun Oloketuyi’s post has clarified that the explosion was not caused by a gas leak.
It has been confirmed that the gas cylinder did not explode, nor was the inverter battery involved.
Additionally, the generator house was located far from the main building.
Meanwhile, new reports have emerged indicating that the couple died from a thunderstrike.
