Playing against teams from Eastern Europe has been a difficult job for almost all the teams in the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024.

Teams from Eastern Europe normally lack pace and it helps them to keep their shape very well because you will never get them out of shape and position.

Slovenia were huge minnows against Roberto Martinez’s Portugal but did not play as one until during penalty shootouts.

Portugal launched an attack on Slovenia from the beginning of the game with Leao giving them much troubles on the left side. Nothing seemed to faze the minnows as they defended strongly against a very stronger side. Ronaldo and Palhinha went closer to scoring but were denied by Oblak.

The game went to extra time with Christiano Ronaldo missing crucial penalty to put Portugal in the lead as Jan Oblak successfully saved it.

With four minutes of the extra time before the end of the game, RB Leipzig’s striker Benjamin Sesko missed a great opportunity to score to eliminate Portugal but his feeble shot was saved by the excellent Diego Costa.
