Self-acclaimed Prophet Eric Boahen, founder and leader of Reign House Chapel in Accra, has cautioned celebrities to prioritize their spiritual well-be
Self-acclaimed Prophet Eric Boahen, founder and leader of Reign House Chapel in Accra, has cautioned celebrities to prioritize their spiritual well-being, emphasizing that fame is not just about admiration but a spiritual phenomenon with hidden consequences.
In an interview recently, Prophet Boahen explained that the limelight attracts both good and bad attention, leaving celebrities vulnerable to depression, mental health struggles, and even suicide.
The Spiritual Reality of Fame
According to Prophet Boahen, fame is a spiritual reality that requires a strong foundation.
He noted that celebrities must invest in spiritual growth to sustain their success and mental well-being.
“Fame is not just about being recognized; it’s a spiritual reality that requires a strong foundation. Celebrities must invest in spiritual growth if they want to sustain their success and mental well-being,” he stated.
Prophet Boahen expressed special concern for Gospel artistes, warning that singing about God should never be reduced to mere showmanship.
“If God has given them a platform, it should not be for show. Faith is not a costume you wear for the cameras; it must be lived authentically—both in private and in public,” he cautioned.
Faith And Entertainment
The Prophet also weighed in on a recent remark by Pastor Mensa Otabil, founder of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), who encouraged Christians not to allow their faith to limit them from exploring opportunities in showbiz.
Prophet Boahen agreed with Pastor Otabil, insisting that faith and entertainment are not mutually exclusive.
“Has any secular artist ever complained that Christians corrupted them? Then why do we assume the reverse? I tell my members to enter acting, music, TV presentation—own that space instead of shying away,” he stated.
Supporting Entertainers Spiritually
Over the years, Prophet Boahen has dedicated himself to supporting entertainers spiritually, offering guidance to help them remain grounded while navigating fame.
His church has hosted notable Gospel stars, including Empress Gifty, Jak Alolome, and MOG Music, among others.
