All is set for Kumasi Asante Kotoko to use the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi as their new venue for the 2024-25 season after the NSA closed down their favourite Baba Yara Sports Stadium for renovation.

The head coach in an interview
with 3Sports’ Micheal Oti Adjei expresed his disappointment on the closure of the stadia as he thinks it will massively disrupt how teams play because players would have to keep adjusting to new venues.

“Yes, I think so. Because, you have to always be on the move; Today you’re on this venue, the next time you have to go to a different place maybe because of the venue not meeting a particular standard,” Prosper said.

All the Premier League teams playing their home games at the Accra Sports Stadium and the Baba Yara Sports Stadium must now adapt to their new venues. Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Dreams FC and Accra Lions are the teams set to relocate and must find a way to enjoy life in their new homes.

“When it happens that way it affects the flow of the team in terms of adaptation because today you’re here, the next moment you have to move to a different venue which is not good.

“Because the more the players play on a particular pitch as their home grounds for a period, it gives them that confidence because they can have a mental picture of how the crowd is going to be at any point in time.

“So they know how to mentally adjust themselves before they come into the game but then when you move from one venue to the other it’ll take time for them to adapt in terms of the crowd, in terms of the spectating, it’ll take time for them to adjust”.

“If you go to Obuasi and you do well, these supporters will travel and come there. They don’t care about the distance, once Kotoko is playing well and Kotoko is winning, wherever you take Kotoko to, our Supporters will come,” he added.

Prosper Nartey Ogun is very optimistic fans will still support them even at Obuasi. It will all depends on how the team performs as victories will bring together the fans to cheer Fabulous on.

The Porcupine Warriors will play their first home game of the season at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi against Young Apostles.
