A caretaker in Ashaiman, who rented a room to a female tenant for one year and verbally extended the rental agreement for another year after developing a romantic relationship with her, has been instructed to compensate the woman because she is refusing to leave the room.
The tenant did not leave the room despite becoming pregnant by another man, while continuing her relationship with the caretaker.
The woman stated that the caretaker, who was in charge of the house while the landlord was away, had increased her rent after asserting that he owned the property.
As a result, she would not be leaving, even though the original rental period had ended. In another case, a landlord reportedly evicted a tenant after finding out that the tenant was in a sexual relationship with his wife.
These details were included in a report from the Ashaiman ADR Centre, which is actively addressing more of these cases.
