South Africans are voting for a new parliament and nine provincial legislatures. The ANC could lose its majority for the first time since 1994.

Polls have opened across the country with queues in many polling stations. Some delays have been reported in some polling stations.

More than 27 million people are registered to cast their ballots in a poll that highlights growing political fragmentation.

A record 70 parties and 11 independents are contesting the national and provincial elections.
