Famous sports journalist John Awuah Otabil, popularly known as Sports Cotyledon, is dead.

His death was announced by his employers, Class Media Group (CMG), in a heartfelt tribute on Tuesday, August 21.

The tribute highlighted his remarkable passion and dedication to sports journalism, stating, “His passion and dedication to exceptional sports coverage were truly inspiring. While we will deeply miss his insights, his legacy will continue to shine. Farewell, John. May you rest in peace.”

Awuah Otabil was the Head of Sports at CTV and the host of the Matured Sports Show on the channel.

His career in sports journalism began in 2013 when he joined Obrempong FM 91.7 MHz in Agona Swedru.

After spending nearly five years there, he moved on to HSTV in 2018, followed by stints at SANKOFA TV and BASE ONE TV.

In 2023, Awuah joined the Class Media Group, where he continued to make significant contributions to sports journalism.

He was adjudged the Best Foreign Sports Presenter at Foklex Media Awards 2024.

His untimely passing has left a void in the industry, and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to sports reporting.
