Tenant demands refund of GHS19,000 rent money after discovering she will share same hall with landlord

A tenant is demanding a refund of her GHC19,000 rent money after realising she had to pass through the hall of her landlord to get to her room at Kwabenya.

In her search for a decent accommodation, Anabel Aholu said she sent the money to her sister to search for an apartment for her.

After her sister had informed her that she had been able to secure a place for her, Anabel decided to visit the apartment the following day, only to be shocked by the unexpected.

To access her room, she said she would have to go through the landlord’s hall. Dissatisfied with the situation, Anabel reported the issue to the police to compel the landlord to refund the money.

After three months, the landlord has now been able to pay Gh¢10,000 and is yet to refund the rest.

Anabel is now stranded and is searching for a new accommodation.
