Former French skipper and goalkeeper Hugo Lorris said Enzo Fernandez and his Argentine teammates’ racist comments about the blacks in the French national team is an attack on French people.

The derogatory chants singled out France players of African heritage, from several countries, and holding a French passport.

The chant initially emerged at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar when supporters wearing Argentina shirts appeared on TyC Sports, one of their main sports channels.

The fans sang that France players were ‘all from Angola’ and chanted ‘they f*** transvestites like f***ing Mbappe’, in an apparent reference to the forward having a reported romance with transgender model Ines Rau.

Former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland striker, Tony Cascarino has expressed his view on the issue and has suggested Chelsea should sell the Argentine midfielder.

“It’s going to be tricky. I look back at when I was at Chelsea in the 90s and I’m not sure that dressing room would be okay with what Enzo Fernandez did.

“That’s a tricky one to handle. I think Chelsea have got a major decision on whether they actually keep Enzo Fernandez. Having players not happy with a guy in the dressing room, I’m not sure there will be many that will be comfortable with some of the things that have gone on.

“I don’t know how you can handle it because there will be players who can’t forgive. There might be some who can move on despite not liking what happened. You don’t need everyone to like each other at a club but this is a really, really tricky one. Some players won’t want to move on or make it work.

“He’s going to have to apologise to the squad face-to-face as well and maybe then there will be a bit more forgiveness.”

FIFA has opened investigations into the case where the Argentina national team filmed themselves in a bus racially abusing the French national team footballers after they beat Colombia 1-0 to lift their 16th COPA America title.

Many Chelsea’s Black players have unfollowed Enzo on Instagram causing fear and panic among the Blues fans ahead of the new season.
