Dutch international Memphis Depay, 30, has signed a two year deal with Brazilian giants Corinthians. The former PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lyon, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid forward’s capture was confirmed by his new club on Monday.

Depay became a free agent after he failed to reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid to extend his stay in the Spanish capital.

In Europe, Memphis did not get many offers and decided to test a new culture hence chose to join Corinthians in Brazil.

The Orange squad for the September’s Nations League did not include him due to the fact that he was clubless. When the Dutch head coach, Ronald Koeman was quizzed about Depay’s chances for the national team, he assured him of a slot depending on his fitness.

“I disapproved of Steven Bergwijn’s move to Saudi, with Memphis it can be different,” Koeman told reporters on Monday.

“The level of the league in Brazil is different, so yes, he can still be part of the national team, but it depends on his fitness and if he reaches his level,” added Koeman.

Steven Bergwijn joined the Saudi PRO League recently making Koeman furious. The national team head coach even went to the extent of shutting the doors for the former Tottenham Hotspur forward saying the Saudi Arabia League is below the standard he requires.
