Ghana against Nigeria is the biggest international derby in West Africa as no fixture gets any closer to it.

The Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s clash has always been fierce and it has reached the youth level.

Ghana won 2-1 in the 13th All-African Games at the Cape Coast Stadium in March 2024 in the women’s edition of the competition. The atmoshere that very day was fully charged and incredibldue in the rivalry between the two countries.

Ahead of the finals of the WAFU ZONE B U-20 Championship in Togo, fireworks were expected between the two sides with an unbelievable buzz around the game.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria went ahead in the 33rd minute through Kparobo Arierhi who controlled the ball in the box and released a shot into the bottom right corner of the goalpost.

Kparobo Arierhi doubled Nigeria’s lead with just two minutes to end the first half after pouncing on a lose clearance from the Ghana backline and shooting into the top corner. Nigeria went into the break leading Black Satellites 2-0.

Star striker Jerry Afriyie pulled one back for Desmond Offei’s Ghana but it was too late for them to stage a comeback as the Nigerians were extremely determined to keep their one goal lead.
