Asante Kotoko will commence the second round of the season with a home fixture against one of their recent bogey sides, Karela United, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday afternoon.
The club has every opportunity to return to the top of the table with a win depending on results elsewhere.
On Thursday morning at the pre-match conference ahead of the crucial fixture, the skipper of the Porcupine Warriors, Blay, disclosed that he and his teammates are well-determined to win all three points against Karela United.
“We are determined to win. I have already told my teammates to step up because Karela always gets positive results in Kumasi. So we will go into the game with determination.”
Indeed, Karela United is one of the teams Asante Kotoko has struggled to beat in recent seasons, albeit they broke a seven-game winless run at the beginning of the season with Albert Amoah scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win.
Karela United have sacked their coaches, Jimmy Corbblah and Abubakari Damba, after a poor run of results. They will face Asante Kotoko having lost their last three games, so Fabulous must be well-determined and prepared to face the minnows.
Chief Justice Blay revealed the reason behind his decision to extend his stay with Asante Kotoko in the pre-match conference.
“I took the decision to sign just one year. If after the season Kotoko’s management offers another contract, why not? I’m ready to sign”.
The former Medeama midfielder has become a Fabulous fan’ favourite since joining the club. He has promised to accept any offer that the management will give him if the current one expires.
Prosper Ogum’s charges will welcome the lowly Karela at 3 pm on Sunday to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Oseikrom with fans expecting another three points.
