Ghana is placed in Group E of the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup set to be played in Colombia.
Ghana in the group stage will face Japan, Austria and New Zealand for a place in the knockout stage.
Ghana drew goalless against Mexico in the first friendly game ahead of the tournament and drew 2-2 against South Korea. Stella Nyamekye and Jennifer Owusuwaa scored the goals for Ghana in the draw against the Asians. Yussif Basigi’s side conceded two penalties and he was clearly not happy.
“We are ready for the tournament, and all that we were looking for in the team, we have seen it,” said Basigi.
“Conceding two penalties is a worry, but it gives us a fair idea of what to expect in the main tournamentnt.”
The two friendly games has definitely been good for the head coach because he has been able to identified the loopholes in the team.
The FIFA U-20 World Cup will kick off on 31st August 2024.
