The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media and online platforms suggesting that its Presidential Vetting Committee (PVC) allocated scores to aspirants during the just-ended vetting exercise.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 28, 2025, and signed by Evans Nimako, Secretary to the Presidential Vetting Committee, the party described the publication as “fabricated” and “disgraceful.”
The statement was in direct response to a story published by a little-known news portal, Newsgh360, which alleged that it had “intercepted” the results of the vetting process. According to the report, aspirants were graded and marks assigned to each candidate.
The NPP dismissed this account as false, insisting that the party has never adopted a scoring system in evaluating presidential hopefuls.
“There is no such thing as scoring the performance of the candidates in the vetting process, not this year, nor has there ever been since the NPP started vetting presidential candidate aspirants,” the statement emphasized.
The party further urged the general public to disregard the claims and “treat it with the contempt it deserves.”
It also expressed disappointment at what it described as an attempt to undermine the integrity of the vetting process, which the NPP considers a crucial step in ensuring transparency, fairness, and credibility in its internal democratic processes.
This is not the first time the NPP has had to issue clarifications over misleading reports surrounding its presidential primaries.
In previous election cycles, false stories have emerged, often suggesting bias or manipulation in favor of one candidate over another.
The party maintains that its internal structures are guided by fairness and that the vetting process is designed to ensure that aspirants meet constitutional, legal, and party requirements.
Concluding the statement, the Vetting Committee called on those behind the publication to “be ashamed” and allow the process to proceed in peace and dignity.
The NPP is currently preparing to elect its flagbearer for the 2028 general elections following the end of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s two terms in office.
