Yaw Ampofo Ankrah hints at Kotoko’s return to Bab Yara Sports Stadium
Asante Kotoko was told that the Kumasi Sports Stadium is not fit enough for their trip in the CAF Confederation Cup. They need to find a new place across Ghana, or else CAF will force them to play outside Ghana.
The Accra Sports Stadium was selected, and the club played the Nigerian side Kwara United in the first leg, where they triumphed 4-3.
The National Sports Authority boss, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has hinted at the Porcupine Warriors returning to the Kumasi Sports Stadium in case they eliminate Kwara United and progress to the next stage.
” It is possible Asante Kotoko might return to play their CAF Confederation Cup games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium if they qualify for the next round,” Ampofo Ankrah said on Asempa FM.
“We have been working to ensure we get it in a good state”, he added. Latest pictures from the pitch show that the authorities have been working tirelessly to get the place back to its best.
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi has been under severe criticism since Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
It looks so clear that the venue will be opened soon for football and other activities.
