Barely eight months after commencing operations in Ghana, Zijin Golden Ridge Limited is already being positioned by government as a potential game-changer in the country’s mining industry, with the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, publicly expressing confidence in the company’s trajectory and long-term prospects.
Speaking at the company’s End-of-Year Appreciation and Partnership Reception held in Accra, the Lands Minister described Zijin Golden Ridge as an emerging mining giant whose early performance reflects the kind of operational excellence Ghana expects from investors in the extractive sector.
According to him, the company’s entry into Ghana marks a significant step in Zijin Mining Group’s broader expansion into Africa, with Ghana serving as the strategic gateway.
Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah noted that although the company has been operational for less than a year, early indicators point to a firm that is capable of leaving a lasting footprint not only in Ghana but across the African mining landscape.

He said the standards demonstrated so far by Zijin Golden Ridge align with government’s vision of a responsible, technologically driven and sustainable mining industry that maximises national benefit while attracting credible foreign investment.
The Minister further assured the company of the continued cooperation and support of the Government of Ghana as it scales up its operations, stressing that partnerships anchored on transparency, environmental responsibility and local value creation remain central to the country’s mining policy.
In his address, the Chief Executive Officer of Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, Mr. Leon Zhang, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Ghana, stating that its investment philosophy is anchored on building high-quality and responsible mining projects in close collaboration with government institutions and local communities.
He said the company views Ghana not as a short-term destination, but as a core partner in its African growth strategy.
Mr. Zhang explained that Zijin Mining Group’s global success has been driven by collaboration, innovation and sustainability, principles which will guide the company’s operations in Ghana.
He stressed that Zijin is committed to deeper cooperation in key areas such as mineral resource development, technological advancement, green and environmentally responsible mining, as well as corporate social responsibility.
