Aboubakar Ouattara’s side won 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday afternoon against the Accra Lions. The defeat by struggling Lions keeps them still in the relegation zone, with their rivals playing their games on Sunday.

Phobia made it back-to-back wins in the league for the first time since January.

Enock Asubonteng opened the scoring in the 12th minute to give Hearts of Oak a 1-0 lead. Accra Lions ended the half a goal down but were slightly ahead of the Phobians in terms of possession, shots, and corners.

The second half got underway with Accra Lions determined to bounce back into the game. After looking extremely dangerous to bounce back into the game, they finally got their wish after Laurance Setordjie restored parity in the 70th minute.

Accra Lions needed the three points more than Hearts of Oak, which had just 20 minutes left. Kwesi Asmah in the 81st minute put Hearts of Oak in front again. Accra Lions had the biggest job on the planet with just eight minutes to end the game.

Hamza Issah made it 3-1 with just a minute to end the 90 minutes. It was Hamza Issah’s first goal for the club in 2025. Phobia has moved to 5th place with 2 points behind perennial rivals Asante Kotoko, who sit 4th. The club is 5 points behind the leaders, Nations FC.

Accra Lions’ troubles run deep now. The club remains in the relegation zone, having played 32 games, one game more than their relegation battle rivals. They must beat both Dreams FC and Bibiani Gold Stars to stand any chance of remaining in the league.
