UEFA Champions League kicks off on Tuesday with the world ready to enjoy another sizzling season where the unexpected will happen.

67 African players will be playing in the competition, with seven of them from Ghana.

Ghanaian footballers have paid their dues in the European club competition since the Abedi Pele days. Many are still making the nation proud.

(1). Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur paid an astonishing 55 million pounds for the Ghanaian bona fide forwards to West Ham. The move has divided the fans of the two clubs, but it is a step up in the 25-year-old’s career. After a two-year absence from the competition, Mohammed Kudus will have the opportunity to remind fans of the competition with his talent when they host Spanish side Villarreal on Tuesday night.

(2). Thomas Partey

Villareal

The veteran midfielder’s five-year marriage with Arsenal came to an end at the end of last season when the two parties could not reach an agreement on a new deal. He signed as a free agent for Villareal and Thomas will return to London to face his former enemies at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Good performances can shut the mouths of everybody in the season.

(3). Kamaldeen Sulemana

Atalanta

Atalanta will target a place in the knockout stage, and Ghanaian forward Kamaaldeen Sulemana will be one of the guys they will expect to drive them forward. He joined the Italian side from Southampton in the 2025 summer transfer window with much hope from the club. Head coach Juric coached him at Southampton and expects a lot from Sulemana.

(4). Iñaki Williams

Athletic Bilbao

The Bilbao-born Ghana international, after making his debut in 2014 for Athletic Bilbao, will make his debut in the coveted competition. The 29-year-old will have a taste of UCL with a home fixture against Arsenal on MD1.

(5). Mohammed Salisu

AS Monaco

Salisu played the entire 90 minutes for Monaco in the win at Auxerre over the weekend, and he expects to keep his place. The Ghanaian centre back was an integral member of the club’s defence, but lost his place. The 26-year-old is another Ghanaian who will compete in the competition.

(6). Emmanuel Addai

Qarabaq

JMG Academy’s winger Emmanuel Addai will represent the Azerbaijan club Qarabaq in the competition. Addai played a part in the club’s victory against Ferencvaros in the finals of the playoff. The 24-year-old will travel to Portugal in the MD1 with the squad, where he is due to make an appearance from the bench.

(7). Mohammed Fuseini

Royale Union Saint-Gilloise

The former Right To Dream academy graduate, Mohammed Fusseini, is the only Ghanaian player who will miss the first round of matches after sustaining an injury against Anderlecht two weeks ago. The 23-year-old forward has sustained an ankle injury, which will prevent him from enjoying Royale Saint-Gilloise’s trip to Eindhoven to face PSV Eindhoven.
