The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has lauded the Vice President of the Republic, Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, for her exemplary leadership and lasting contributions to Ghana’s education sector during her tenure as Minister for Education.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Hon. Iddrisu expressed deep appreciation following a visit by the Vice President to the Ministry of Education. He described the meeting as a moment of “profound gratitude” and took the opportunity to reflect on the Vice President’s significant legacy in shaping foundational education policy in Ghana.
“Her Excellency’s vision played a pivotal role in championing STEM education at the basic level, laying a solid foundation for Ghana’s future in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics,” the Minister stated.
He also highlighted her leadership in promoting the use of Ghanaian first languages as the medium of instruction at the foundational level; a policy he said continues to improve literacy and learning outcomes across the country.
“Her legacy serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of visionary leadership on education,” he added.
Hon. Iddrisu concluded his remarks with a heartfelt prayer, expressing hope that Professor Opoku-Agyemang will one day rise to the highest office in the country.
“I pray that Allah grants her the strength and longevity to one day assume the highest office in the land as Ghana’s first female President,” he said.
