A 26-year-old woman, identified as Vainess Kanyama, has died after allegedly being beaten by her husband’s side chick during a confrontation in Kitwe, Zambia.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Kapoto Township, where Kanyama had gone to confront Christin Ntundwe over an alleged affair with her husband.
According to the victim’s uncle, Derrick Bwalya, he received a call informing him that his niece had been found unconscious near a market. Recounting the moment he arrived at the scene, he said: I found my niece bleeding from the nose, and she was unresponsive, and when I attempted to take her to the hospital, I was told that she had already died.”
One of Kanyama’s daughters, who was reportedly with her mother during the confrontation, rushed home to alert relatives after finding her unconscious.
A post-mortem examination later established that Kanyama died from blood clots on both sides of the brain.
Bwalya said Kanyama had been living with her husband in the same area where Ntundwe also resided, before the fatal confrontation. Her family buried her on Friday following the post-mortem examination.
The matter has been reported to the police, with Ntundwe reportedly on the run at the time of the incident.
Bwalya said the family is demanding justice and has urged Kanyama’s husband to cooperate with investigators in helping to locate Ntundwe. Kanyama leaves behind three children, including a five-year-old.
