The 2023-24 Ghana Premier League champions, Samartex FC have announced that CAF has approved the Accra Sports Stadium as their home for the upcoming inter-club competetion.

A couple of weeks ago, CAF announced that Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Oseikrom is the only Stadium in Ghana that meets their standard. However, the organising body has announced that Samartex can use the Accra Sports Stadium for their home games.

The Timber Giants excitedly announced their X account, “The management of FC Samartex wishes to formally notify our cherished supporters and the wider sporting community that the Accra Sports Stadium has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the venue for the Championss League preliminary one and two matches.

“Our distinguished club, the Timber Giants, will have the honour of hosting the Cameroonian c hampions, Victoria United Football Club, for the second leg on August 25, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadiumum.

“In light of this prestigious opportunity, FC Samartex respectfully calls upon all patrons to lend their support as we proudly represent the nation in this distinguished CAF prestigious competition.

“Your support is invaluable as we pursue excellence on the continental stage.

“Thank you for your continued support and dedication to FC Samartex,” added Samartex.

The Timber Giants will face Cameroonian champions Victoria United Football Club in the first preliminary round of the 2024-25 CAF Champions League. The first leg is in Cameroon on 17th August while the return leg will be on 25th August 2024 in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
