The matchday 3 of the Ghana Premeir League was played across the country with intense actions in the various venues over the weekend.

Struggling Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday night recorded an impressive 2-0 win over Bechem United at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. It was all or nothing for Aboubakar Ouattara and his charges. A defeat of Phobia would have probably led to the head coach’s sacking but his men stood up and bought him at least a week or two.

Ransford Mensah’s 51st minute strike put the home team ahead. Young striker Hamza Issah doubled the lead for Hearts of Oak in the 75th minute to ensure a first win for the Accra giants.

Obuasi welcomed Asante Kotoko with an opening arms. Red flag painted the entire town signalling the arrival of Fabulous. Fans were eager to watch their darling Kotoko play their first home game of the season at the Len Clay Sports Stadium. Prosper Ogum’s Porcupine Warriors was th best team in the first half as they dominated every aspect except scoring.

Surprisingly, former WAFA and Medeama forward Daniel Lomotey opened the scoring for the away side early in the second half. Emmanuel Antwi’s sumptuous strike equalised for Asante Kotoko in the 76th minute. It ended 1-1 after both sides failed to secure the winner.

Nations FC won their first game in 7 attempts spanning from last season. The Abrankese side had drew two goalless draws in the new campaign putting the team under immense pressure.

24-year-old Suleymana Nafiu scored the opening goal for Nations against Aduana Stars in the 29th minute. Kelvin Obeng with 15 minutes from time equalised for Aduana but Faisal Charwetey’s 90th minute strike stunned the home side to ensure a long awaited win for Nations FC. Aduana lost 2-1 at home.

Ezekiel Alladoh’s 93rd minute goal for Accra Lions cancelled Najib Ibrahim’s first half goal for Karela. The tie ended 1-1 much to the disappointment of Karela who thought they had recorded their first win of the season at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nalerigu.

Emmanuel Kyei Baffour scored the equaliser with just two minutes from time for Vision in the 1-1 draw against Legon Cities at the Nii Adjei Kraku ll Sports Complex in Tema. Ishmael Amoah gave the Royals the lead early in the second half but Nana Agyeman’s side equalised and kept their unbeaten start to the season.
