Wednesday night was indeed a night to remember as some of the big boys were beaten and bruised by the minnows.

After more than 4 decades wait to return to the table of men, Aston Villa sensationally defeated 6 times winners Bayern Munich 1-0 at the Villa Park with Colombian striker Jhon Duran chipping the ball exquisitely over Manuel Neuer from outside the 18-yard-box in the second half.

Jonathan David scored the only goal for French side Lille to beat the 15 times winners, Real Madrid 1-0. David scored a penalty on the stroke of half time to sink the Goliath of UCL.

Mac Allister and Salah scored in either half to help Arne Slot continue his incredible start to life at Anfield. Bologna lost 2-0 to Liverpool.

Christos Tzolis’ 23rd minute strike sealed a 1-0 win for Club Brugge over Sturm Graz in Austria.

Atletico Madrid suffered a humiliating defeat against Portuguese side Benfica. Diego Simeone’s ATM was beaten 4-0 with Akturkoglu, Di Mariah, Bah and Kokcu each scoring.

Djimsiti, Lookman and Bellanova’s strikes sealed an emphatic 3-0 away win for Atalanta against Shaktar Donetsk in Gelsenkirchen at the Veltins Arena in Germany.

Juventus with 10 men won 3-2 against Leipzig in Germany with Conceicao scoring the winner with 8 minutes from time.

Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu sparked Monaco’s comeback in the 2-2 draw against Dinamo Zaghreb in Croatia. Denis Zakaria made it 2-2 from the spot kick. Zaghreb will regret for not been able to protect Susic and Baturina’s goals which gave them a comfortable 2 goals lead.

Girona’s horrible start to the season continued with Feyenoord winning 3-2 in Girona. Ladislav Krejci’s own goal made the difference for the Dutch side.
