West Ham fans were heard singing to their manager, Julen Lopetegui, last night at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City: “You’re getting sacked in the morning”.

Things have been so disastrous for the London club since the beginning of the season. Julien Lopetegui replaced David Moyes after the Scottish manager had played an instrumental role in the club’s rise recently culminating in a Europa Conference League win.

The fans exceeded expectations, thinking Moyes’ methods were archaic, hence aiming for a more modern approach.

Spanish manager Julen Lopetegui was appointed after Ruben Amorim at Sporting Lisbon and the club could not reach an agreement for the managerial role.

Huge investments were made in the transfer window for Lopetegui but he has failed miserably to let the team play to the satisfaction of the fans.

The Hammers have won just five games in all competitions this season: four in the English Premier League and one in the EFL Cup. The club has lost eight games and drawn three.

On Tuesday night in round 14 of the Premier League, expectations were high with the return of Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus after missing the club’s last five games due to suspension.

West Ham United was thrashed 3-1 by Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City, leaving the club in 14th position, having won just 15 points from a possible 42.

The Hammers are in a huge crisis and many expect the club to sack Julen Lopetegui any moment from now. The former Spain and Real Madrid boss has not been able to help the players hit top form, just like what David Moyes did last season, where stars like Kudus, Bowen, Paqueta, Zouma and Areola, among others, played so well.

West Ham United welcomes Wolverhampton Wanderers to the London Stadium on Monday night in a make-or-break tie for Lopetegui.
