A candidate from the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a female teacher at St John’s Catholic ‘B’ Basic School in Abrem Agona, located in the Central Region. James Mensah has been identified as the suspect in the alleged assault on the school’s science teacher, Madam Matilda Mensah, while classes were in session.
According to reports, the suspect later visited the teacher’s home, where he is said to have made additional threats.
Officials from the Ghana National Association of Teachers took action and helped in the apprehension of the suspect. James Mensah is currently in police custody and is anticipated to be brought to court regarding the incident.

James Mensah is accused of assaulting the school’s science teacher, Madam Matilda Mensah, during class time.
According to reports, the suspect then went to the teacher’s home, where he is said to have made additional threats. Representatives from the Ghana National Association of Teachers helped facilitate the arrest of the suspect.
Currently, James is in police custody and is due to be processed for court in connection with the incident.
The family of James and the teacher unions are yet to comment on the issue as they prefer the police to handle the matter.
