21-year-old Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah suffered a torn cruciate ligament injury and was forced off just seven minutes into Olympique Lyon’s clash with Lille in the French Ligue 1 on Friday.

The youngster, who has been monitored by many Premier League clubs for a possible transfer in the upcoming transfer window throughout the season, will return to full action in 2025 Christmas.

This means that he will have to play another season for Olympique Lyon before a dream move to the English Premier League.

Initial assessments of his injury suggest that the injury he suffered is severe and will need much time to recover.

Nuamah is set to miss the rest of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers games. His absence will be a big blow for Otto Addo as he has become an integral member of the Ghana national team.
