The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted enquiry bail to the Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon. John Darko, after he honoured an invitation to assist investigators probing an alleged criminal conspiracy at SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
In a news release dated 13 October 2026, EOCO said the alleged conspiracy has caused the company a financial loss now estimated at approximately GH₵27 million. The figure is a revised one.
According to the Office, Hon. Darko reported to its headquarters at exactly 12:00 noon on the day of the invitation. EOCO described him as respectful, cooperative and fully responsive throughout the investigative process.
“Having regard to the circumstances of the case, the applicable law and the Honourable Member’s level of cooperation with investigators,” the Office said, it granted him enquiry bail.
EOCO also informed the public that the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, has honoured its invitation as well and is cooperating with investigators.
The Office stressed that investigations are “progressing steadily according to its case theory.” It added that the investigation remains active and that no conclusion has been reached on the culpability or otherwise of any person connected to the matter.
The release was signed by the Head of the Corporate Affairs and Public Education Unit, for the Executive Director.
Enquiry bail allows a person who is assisting an investigation to remain free while inquiries continue. It is not a charge, and it does not amount to a finding of guilt.
