Group E of Euro 2024 was never highly rated but it has exceeded expectations as all four teams fought and fought pretty well.

Imagine finishing the group with 4 points and still going home while a team in another group progressed with just three points.

That’s the cruelty Ukraine faced in the group. They got four points and were flat in the first game but delivered in the second and third games yet they are going home.

Ukraine attacked Belgium for a late goal but Tedesco’s Red Devils managed to prevent them from scoring. The permutations for Ukraine were simple, beat Belgium or draw against them and hope that there would be a winner between Slovakia and Romania. Ukraine failed to do their part and the other two teams only shared the spoils.

Belgium has not hit any top form in Germany and there’s a huge concern from their fans regarding the team’s performance. The playing body was booed throughout and after the game with skipper De Bruyne ordering them to go to the dressing room instead of applauding the fans after the final whistle. It sums up how disastrous the campaign has been so far for them. Belgium will face France in the Round 16.

Ahead of the Romania and Slovakia clash, the Sun UK reported that the day before the game, the two teams were conspiring to play a draw to suit both. Their respective managers denied the rumours and promised a fight in the pre-match conference.

Neutrals witnessed another cagey encounter with both teams showing immense intensity and aggression to leave them wondering where the conspiracy theory was emanating from.

Romania scored a penalty through Razvan Marin to cancel out Ondrej Duda’s header midway through the first half. Both teams made it through to the Round 16 after the 1-1 draw alongside Belgium in Group E.
