Georgia’s beautiful story at the Euro 2024 was brough to an abrupt end when Spain massacred them 4-1 in Cologne at the RheinEnergieStadion no Sunday night.

Spain’s dominace against their opponents are mind blowing as they have proven to be superior to all the four teams they have played against so far.

La Roja got off to a decent start with Nico Williams stretching Georgia’s left hand side. The Athletic Bilbao’s young forward has been a huge threat and he was in his element right from the beginning of the game. On Spain’s right hand side was the 16-year-old Yamine Lamal who looked so decent and extraordinary with his link up play and the precise crosses.

Carvajal’s header from corner kick was saved by Mamarshdavili in the 11th minute. Georgia’s counter attack was always dangerous whenever they broke away from the Spanish attack.

An unfortunate own goal was conceded by Le Normand when he tried to block a cross which resulted in him sending it into the right post to give Georgia a shocking lead.

The goal came as a shock to everyone as no one believed Georgia had even 20% chance to score first.

Goals from Rodri, Ruiz, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo ensured an emphatic victory for the favourites for the tournament.

De La Fuente’s Spain have been so sensational so far and will face their first huge test against the host Germany in Stuttgart on Friday in the quarter-finals.

Georgia must feel proud for announcing themselves to the world football in a grand manner.
