Tano Bofoakwa has become the first team to suffer relegation in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

The Sunyani-based club was beaten 1-0 on Saturday against Legon Cities in Dawu at the Theatre of Dreams.

It was the third successive defeat for Bofoakwa meaning life in the top flight has been extremely difficult for John Eduafo’s side.

Sitting in 17th place with 33 points from 32 games, Tano Bofoakwa has no mathematical chance to survive. The 15th-placed team, Karela United are 7 points above them with just two games left.

Life in the Premier League was exciting for Boafoakwa as they got off to a good start but soon lost momentum after attacking Maxwell Konadu.

Tano Bofoakwa spent 16 years in the lower divisions of Ghana football before returning in the 2023-24 season to the Premier League. They are returning to Division One after just one disastrous season in the top flight.

They have the MTN FA CUP finals to play against Nsoatreman and that is only consolation for Tano Boafoakwa in the 2023-24 season.
