Medeama’s title defence is becoming impossible as they have lacked the consistency to defend the title they won less than a year ago.
Berekum Chelsea stepped up in the second half and recorded a crucial win against the defending champions Medeama SC on Monday afternoon in Berekum.
The first half ended goalless with both halves showing their intentions to win the three points. The performance was almost the same as they equally shared the possession.
In the second half, Samuel Boadu’s Berekum Chelsea capitalized on the home advantage and took the lead in the 70th minute through Hubert Gyau. Afriyie Mezack doubled the home team’s lead with nine minutes from the full team.
Berekum Chelsea has moved to 5th with 41 points from 27 games. They are eight points adrift of the first place Samartex SC.
Medeama on the other hand sits in 8th place on the league log after playing 28 games.
