“I did not resign based on political reasons” – Former Nsoatreman General Manager Eric Alagidede

Eric Alagidede made it clear that what clubs need at the moment is strong financial backing even though the idea of providing buses to them was good.

Eric Alagidede made it clear that what clubs need at the moment is strong financial backing even though the idea of providing buses to them was good.

Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer in his campaign messages ahead of the 2024 General Elections, promised Ghana Premier League clubs buses in a bid to help improve the development of local football.

Nsoaterman FC quickly distanced themselves from what their General Manager said because they thought it was a way of undermining Bawumia’s campaign.

Nsoatreman FC owner, who also owns Baffour Soccer Academy, Honorable Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, is the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations; therefore, he is an integral part of Nana Akufo Addo’s outgoing government.

Many thought that Eric Alagidede’s bus comments were undermining the campaign of the NPP even though he was so right.

Since then, the relationship between the General manager and club hierarchy has been sour as fans and Ghanaians had predicted his exit.

Earlier in the week, Eric Alagidede tendered his resignation letter to finally end speculations about his future as the GM of the club.

In an interview on ASEMPA FM, the former General Manager of Nsoatreman, Eric Alagidede revealed that his decision has no political backing.

“I did not resign based on political reasons. I’m a principled person and I always uphold my principles. I made a personal decision to leave this club a few months back. I think the applause is still loud, and it is my personal decision to leave. It is time for someone to continue the good work I did.”

Nsoatreman will have to make new appointment quickly because the battle ahead of them is very difficult. The club won the MTN FA Cup last season under Maxwell Konadu but has been poor since Yaw Preko took charge of the head coach role at the beginning of the season.

The Nsoatre-based club sits 14th on the league table, having won just 14 points from 13 games, with just three points separating them and the bottom-placed Legon Cities.
