The English FA warned Marc Guehi that anything religious is not welcomed after he wrote ‘I love Jesus’ across his captain armband on Saturday afternoon at the Selhurst Park against Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old whose father is a church minister has refused to listen to the warnings giving to him by the FA.
Ahead of the kick-off at the Portman Road against Ipswich Town on Tuesday night, the Ivorian-born English defender wore the armband for Crystal Palace. On the armband, the skipper wrote, “Jesus loves you”.
As part of the Premier League’s Rainbow Laces campaign to show support for the LGBTQ+ community, captains of top-flight clubs were given rainbow armbands to be worn in week 13 and 14 to show their support.
The defender is expected to be reprimanded by the FA after failing to listen to their advice.
