James Kwesi Appiah is a hero in Sudan after leading them to the 2025 AFCON to be played in December 2025 and January 2026 in Morocco.

It has become a huge problem in Ghana with rumors even from Executive Council Members that they impose their players on national team coaches.

“If you are a coach and let someone who says he is a club chairman, an agent, or president of the country tell you which players to select, then you are not a good coach. For me, even if you are the president, I will not have any respect for you again. If things go wrong, it is the name of the coach that they will mention,” Kwesi Appiah said in an interview on ASEMPA FM.

Young players have complained bitterly about how money was demanded from them before getting the green light to represent their motherland.

The head coach has seriously advised his fellow coaches in Ghana to not be intimidated by club owners and EXCO members of the Black Stars when selecting players for the respective national teams.

Ghana ended 2024 disastrously after winning just two in eleven competitive games.
