Fans immediately criticised the appointment of Malim Kabir as the new Technical Director of the Porcupine Warriors because of his age.
The 79-year-old Jabir is a very popular figure at the club and was given the role of Technical Director last week after the club decided to restructure things.
In an interview on Kessben FM, legendary Malik Jabir disclosed that because of his age, he cannot always be with the team, especially on long journeys on matchdays.
“Due to my age, I will not be able to travel with the team on long journeys. I will have an assistant who I will assign long journeys for where I can’t go with the team,” Malik Jabir said.
Asante Kotoko’s fans doubted not Malik Jabir’s skills but rather the strength to follow the team up and down across the nation. Asante Kotoko always makes long trips because they are all alone in Kumasi in the Premier League.
Most of the clubs are far away from the region, so the Porcupine Warriors are involved in long journeys. Malik Jabir doesn’t have the strength to be on the road every day.
