Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo is expected to miss around eight weeks after sustaining a knee injury, leaving his side without an important player in a very difficult period.

The length of the layoff means he could miss several fixtures, depending on the team’s schedule and how his rehabilitation progresses.

Semenyo (26) limped off against Ipswich in the 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Star man Erling Haaland also got injured when he hobbled off at full time with a foot injury against Ipswich, making Semenyo’s injury a horrible one.

The Ghanaian forward’s absence may prompt the coaching staff to adjust their plans and give other players more opportunities.

The impact will depend on the squad’s depth and the timing of his return, with the club likely to monitor his progress throughout the coming weeks.

Semenyo’s focus will now be on recovering fully and returning to action when he is ready.

Supporters will hope his rehabilitation goes smoothly and that he can resume playing at full fitness.

The attacker will miss Ghana’s 2027 AFCON qualifiers home and away fixtures against lowly Somalia. Both teams are without a single point after losing two games apiece to Ivory Coast and the Gambia – making the fixtures make or break.
