A 51-year-old man, Jibreel Hardi, and his 42-year-old wife, Abiba Fatawu, have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), in collaboration with National Security’s Special Operations Department, over their alleged involvement in the sale of illegal drugs at Weija in the Ga South Municipality.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, September 3, 2026, followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering by undercover officers.
Jibreel Hardi was intercepted around 11 a.m. while reportedly on his way to meet a buyer, with a search of his vehicle turning up large quantities of suspected cannabis and packets of Tramadol.
Operatives subsequently proceeded to the couple’s residence, where additional quantities of the suspected substances were recovered, along with a firearm loaded with 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Abiba Fatawu was arrested at the scene as a suspected accomplice, with authorities indicating that extended surveillance had implicated her as a collaborator in the operation.
Both suspects remain in custody, assisting investigators, as NACOC continues efforts to clamp down on the sale and distribution of illicit drugs in the Greater Accra Region.
