Everything is pointing to the fact that Burkina Faso’s president, Ibrahim Traore, is hell-bent on seeing his beloved nation thrive in sports.
For any African nation, especially West Africans, to thrive in sports, there must be 100 per cent transparency from those on top, and this is what President Traore is looking for in Burkina Faso.
According to Kickgh.com, the president has approved a new directive prohibiting club presidents in Burkina Faso from serving on the executive committees of sports federations.
This means anyone leading a sports club can no longer hold an executive position within a sports federation.
Sports in Burkina Faso have never reached their peak, and all is due to bad leadership. Clubs across the country’s officials are the same people leading their sporting institutions.
The ripple effects are nepotism, where the leaders will give chances to the players belonging to their clubs and agencies, which, at the end of the day, will affect the nation’s development in terms of sports.
In a bid to kill conflict of interest, the president has announced this plans to separate club leadership from federation governance.
