Thomas Partey has hit top form at the right time for Arsenal. The Ghanaian bona fide midfielder could be Arsenal’s Player of the Season after a series of stellar performances throughout the entire season.
Last Tuesday at the Emirates against Real Madrid, Thomas Partey was Arsenal’s orchestrator in the middle of the field as he dictated the tempo of the game for the Gunners. His performance did not go unnoticed as he earned applause from the football world.
“I think we’ve experienced this many times when we play here and I think it’s not going to be something different. We just have to be confident with the ball and try to play our game,” Partey said.
Arsenal won 3-0 against Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the UCL. Real Madrid has been plotting an improbable comeback next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu against the Gunners.
“We all know what we have to do. We have to go there with the mentality to win. We want to win every game. And I think we have to play our game, be confident with the ball and also try to find our weaknesses and keep attacking them.”
The Ghanaian urged his teammates to focus on winning in Spain because Arsenal wants to win every game.
When asked about his best role, the midfielder said, “I like to be defensive and offensive. I know whenever I am in the opposite area, I have chances for a goal and I think defensively, I want to be stronger. I want to attack like Yaya Toure and defend like Michael Essien, so to have both qualities is good,” Partey told SkySports after the 1-1 draw against Brentford.
Thomas Partey has become Mikel Arteta’s Man for All Seasons after he was deployed at right back on Saturday’s late kick-off against London rivals Brentford.
Partey has been playing different roles at Arsenal with Arteta using him as a defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder and as a right-back when the need arises.
