At least, Spanish international Nico Williams will be at the San Mames for the 2025-26 season after signing a long-term deal with the Spanish club.
Many media houses announced that a deal had been agreed between Barcelona and the 22-year-old Nico, the younger brother of Ghanaian international Inaki Williams.
Nico had a around 60 million euros release clause and reports say the youngster and the club have agreed on a 50% increment in his release clause to make it around 100 million euros.
Spanish giants Barcelona failed to pay the 60m euros which was Nico’s release clause initially. Now that it has been increased to over 100 million euros, many are wondering how the Catalan-based club will activate it in the 2026 summer.
Nico Williams was born to Ghanaian parents in Pamplona where he had his youth career before moving to Osasuna and finally joining Bilbao. Nico is an integral part of the Spanish national team and is considered one of the best left-hand side wingers in European football with his dribbling, pace and aggression.
