Julie Alfred was the favorite among many fans across the world for the finals of the Women’s 200m. The St. Lucian queen’s incredible success in 100m finals made many change their mind and trusted her to add the 200m gold to the 100m gold she won.
In a final start list that contains three USA sprinters, two British and two Africans, it was surely going to be a huge test once again for Julien Alfred.
Tokyo 2020 bronze winner, Gabrielle Thomas, 27, ranked 27th in the world, run 21.83 to lift Gold for USA. Alfred of St. Lucia finished second at 22.08 while the bronze medalist, Brittany Brown of the USA run at 22.20.
British duo Dina Asher-Smith and Daryl Nita finished 4th and 5th by running 22.22 and 22.23 as they narrowly missed the podium.
Nigeria’s 21-year-old Favour Ofili finished 6th at 22.24.
McKenzie Long of USA and Jessica Gbai of Ivory Coast run 22.42 and 22.70 to finish 7th and 8th.
