The second-highest decision-making body in the Asante Kingdom, the Kumasi Traditional Council, continues to have Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), on its wanted list.

Affectionately known as Chairman Wontumi, he is being brought before the chiefs for allegedly making disparaging remarks about the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty—Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

It happened after Mr. Antwi Boasiako and Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Dua, got into an altercation during the vetting of parliamentary aspirants in the Ashanti region.

Despite his denial of the charges, Chairman Wontumi was asked to appear for a hearing by the traditional council, which he declined due to health concerns.

Rumours later circulated that Otumfuo had ordered the KTC to stop considering the issue. This came about as images of Chirman Wontumi lying in a hospital bed went viral on social media.

The Kumasi Traditional Council, however, has rejected the aforementioned information, stating that Wuntmi is still on their wanted list.

According to a report by Joy News, the Council has been summoned to an important meeting to determine the fate of the embattled NPP chairman today.

“The Council would reconvene on Monday, January 29, 2024, to deliberate on what could be the decider of the fate of the embattled Chairman Wontumi,” Joy News report said.

Although Joynews sources at the Manhyia Palace claim the traditional rulers will make a decision with or without the embattled Chairman Wontumi in attendance, Kapitalradio971.com cannot confirm with certainty that Chairman Wontumi will attend the meeting.
