Ghana reached the round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after indifferent performances throughout the campaign.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz impressed many Ghanaians after Ghana’s determined goalless draw against eventual bronze medal winners England. Ghanaians became worried after the toothless attacking display the team showed in the final group game defeat against Croatia.
The Black Stars lost embarrassingly against Colombia in the round of 16 after failing to register a single shot on target, with many blaming poor planning of the team over the years by the Ghana Football Association.
The team earned a whopping USD13 million after the whole trip across North America. Black Stars Management Committee member, Moses Parker, in an interview on Tarkwa-based Medeama FM revealed that every Black Stars player received USD100k as an appearance fee while Management Committee members received USD50K.
“Members of the Black Stars Management Committee received only half of the players’ appearance fee, meaning each of us received $50,000,” Mr Parker disclosed.
He continued, “There was no per diem or winning bonus for the committee.”
“The pastors who prayed for me and the Black Stars during the tournament were also given offerings from the same appearance fee received by me.”
The revelation is set to bring reactions from everyday Ghanaians and the media because they have been complaining about the sharing of hefty sums from the Black Stars’ gains at major tournaments.
Ghana will return to full action in September during the first international break after the World Cup.
